The Department of Kannada was established in the year 1967.Since its inception the Department of Kannada has prepared the students to obtain various jobs in the administrative services both at the State and National Level. Several students who studied their BA in optional kannada have successfully completed their post-graduation in kannada in Manasa Gangothri,Mysuru and other Centers.
Many kannada students who have well settled in life by choosing various jobs including as kannada teachers have as well contributed to the knowledge of kannada by writing books on various topics of kannada literature. Many have written books on different subjects of Kannada which has become reference books for research activities.
The Department of Kannada has conducted many Workshops, Seminars and Conferences. The faculties are also actively participating both at the State and National Level Seminars and Conferences as resource persons and delegates. The Department has its own library. The faculty has not only engaged in academic work but also involved in cultural and extension activities.In college library there are more than 10,000 books and 37 Journals.
